General Dynamics, Calgary, AB
NewAge Automation participated in some of the system engineering activities required to model & design General Dynamics - Improved Landmine Detection System (ILDS). NewAge's involvement included development of several DeviceNet, CAN and serial interfaces to intelligent sensors and devices, and then collection of test data to properly model and develop various control algorithms used throughout the system. ILDS has been in service with the Canadian Forces since 2002 and has seen duty supporting the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. More information about General Dynamics - Improved Landmine Detection System can be found here.

Development of a Portable Toping System used by INCO to scan the interior of a mine shaft. The system involved interfacing to a stereo vision system, inertial guidance system and three dimensional laser scanning device. The resulting system develops accurate spatial maps of the mine's interior for further engineering and GIS analysis.

Development of the software User Interface for General Dynamics - Improved Landmine Detection System (ILDS). The user interface allowed operators to remotely teleoperate equipment from a safe distance. ILDS has been in service with the Canadian Forces since 2002 and has seen duty supporting the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
